Happy Throwback Thursday, everyone!

We think it has been well established by now that we here at The Woman At The Bar love whiskey. Specifically, American whiskey — aka, bourbon and rye. One of the frist drinks that turned us on to this delectable stuff was the classic Whiskey Sour, so it’s probably time that we cover that on the blog, don’t you think?

Happy Monday, everyone!

You know how in movies about the 1920s everyone seems to be fabulously dressed and drinking deliciously tantalizing champagne cocktails out of sparkling coupe glasses? Now that we have said that, do you also want to be fabulously dressed and drinking a deliciously tantalizing champagne cocktail out of a sparkling coupe glass?

Well then dust off your Great Gatsby-est attire and get ready for a 20s-inspired drink that will blow your minds!

TBT Classic Cocktail #21: Maiden’s Prayer Jitney!

Happy Throwback Thursday, readers!

This week’s classic cocktail is one most of you have probably never heard of, but it is high time we change that!

This delicious gin concoction was inspired by a piano piece of the same name written by a young Polish girl in the 1850s, which quickly became a huge hit both in Europe and the United States. We would argue, however, that the drink is the better of the two.

Monday Funday #21: Diane’s Strawberry Cheesecake!

DSC11

Happy Monday, everyone!

This is a very, very special Monday here at The Woman At The Bar, because today’s drink was created specifically for one you!

Diane, one of our wonderful readers, threw down the gauntlet and challenged us to create a drink inspired by her favorite dessert, strawberry cheesecake, and we are not ones to ever turn away from a challenge–so create we did!

This is the first of what we hope to be many drinks created with your input, so if you have a drink challenge for us, no matter how pie (or cheesecake!) in the sky it may seem, send it to our way and we will put on our mad scientist caps and get to inventing!

But for now, we hope that you all (but especially Diane) enjoy Diane’s Strawberry Cheesecake!

Happy Thursday, TWATB-ers!

For this week’s TBT Classic Cocktail we decided to pull out one of our old favorites: the White Lion!

This is a drink that has been showing up in bartending manuals since the 1880s, and although it may be an old, old, old-y, it is definitely a goody.

HDN14

Happy Monday everyone!

We’ll be honest: although we love all of our original drinks, there are some that have a special place in our heart. And today’s drink is one of them. Forgive us for saying so, but we tend to think this one is an instant classic. Not bragging, just truth telling.

Because really, when you take a little bourbon, a little spice, a little citrus, and shake it up with a little bit of magic, you get something absolutely delicious!

And so, we present to you, A Hard Day’s Night!

TBT Classic Cocktail #18: The Kamikaze!

Happy Thursday, readers!

Before we get started, some clarification: no, we are not about to make the deadly shot of the same name that is most often drunk by 20 year olds in Miami on spring break. This is the actual original cocktail — the shooters and the various brightly colored drinks you may be thinking of are all derivative.

Okay?

Great, so let’s get down to business.
