Happy Hump Day readers!

A few things up front: yes, we know the World Cup is over and that we should have posted this cocktail last week, and no we do not know anything about soccer or whether Italy or Mexico even played in the World Cup — but what we DO know is that this quickie cocktail is delicious, and really, that is what matters!

So come on, lets do this!

Why is this drink called Italy vs. Mexico, you ask? Well, that is because we took a delicious liquor from each country, put them together, and bam! Whole new delicious cocktail.

Cooperation is the key to great things, guys.

So, for the Italy vs. Mexico, you will need:

• 1 1/2 oz tequila (reposado or anejo)
• 3/4 oz Averna liqueur
• approx. 4 oz club soda

Gather your ingredients plus your jiggers, bar spoon, and serving glass.

Fill your glass with ice — since this is a quickie cocktail we will be making it directly in the serving glass.

Next, measure out your 1 1/2 oz tequila and pour it in.

Now add in your 3/4 oz Averna!

Top off the glass with club soda.

Give the whole thing a good stir.

And there you have it! A perfect mid-week pick-me-up to tide you over until the weekend.
