Well hello again, readers!
Welcome back to another week full of boozy fun here at The Woman At The Bar!
We’re kicking things off with another original creation, just in time to smooth the transition from a long weekend into another work week. Are you ready?
After a holiday weekend we hope was filled with delicious (but probably not nutritious) food, and lots of fancy cocktails, we thought this week’s Monday Funday drink should go back to basics.
So we bring you the Italian Roast, a simple, strong, and invigorating drink to get you back on track.
For the Italian Roast, you will need:
- 2 oz bourbon
- 1/2 oz Averna
- 2 dashes coffee bitters
- Maraschino cherry, for garnish
Gather all of your ingredients plus your jiggers, bar glass, bar spoon, and serving glass.
First, put your two dashes of bitters directly into the bottom of your bar glass. Remember to hold your bitters bottle vertically, directly over the glass. Each shake is one dash.
Next, measure out your 2 oz of bourbon, and pour it into the glass.
Now your 1/2 oz of Averna.
Now fill your bar glass 3/4 full of ice.
Use your bar spoon to stir the drink until the ice melts down to the liquid line.
Now put 2-3 ice cubes into your serving glass, and strain your drink over it.
Add in your cherry, and serve!
There you have it!
Happy Monday, everyone–we’ll see you tomorrow.
