Everyone, it’s Wednesday. All over again. Can you believe it? Strange days, indeed…
This week’s quickie cocktail is one that some of you are probably familiar with, but for those of you that are not, we will proudly proclaim that this is the perfect way to up your bar ordering game when you happen to be at an establishment where, how shall we say this gently, ordering a drink with more than two ingredients can cause a bit of confusion…
In the quick-and-dirty drink game of Rum & Cokes, Vodka Tonics, G&Ts, and Scotch & Sodas, the Whiskey Ginger tends to be–for reasons unknown to us–the dirty red headed stepchild of the group. But guess what everyone? This ginger is coming to run the world, and you better get on board or you’re going to get crushed.
First things first, though–if you order or make this delectable little ditty we demand that you do it properly, and that means using Bulleit bourbon. No Jack Daniels (don’t even get us started…), no generic well bourbon, Bulleit. Has it not been clear enough so far that we absolutely love this stuff? We swear no one is paying us to say that (although we would be totally up for a sponsorship, Bulleit! Hit us up!), it is simply the truth.
(We would like to take a moment here to thank a very special FriendAtTheBar, Bradley, for introducing us to this stuff a couple years ago. Our lives have been forever changed.)
So, now that you know the most important elements to this drink, lets get down to the business of making this baby at home, shall we? You will need:
- 2 oz Bulleit bourbon
- aprox. 4 oz Ginger Ale
Gather the many, many ingredients plus your serving glass, jigger, and bar spoon.
Fill your glass with ice, and then measure out 2 ounces of Bulleit.
Pour the Bulleit straight into your glass, and then top it off with your Ginger Ale. You want about 4 ounces, but you are free to guesstimate here.
Now give that baby a quick stir to combine, and bam! You are ready to get drinkin’.
Another Hump Day down, you guys! Enjoy it–we know we will.
