Hello again lovely readers, and Happy Wednesday! Here at The Woman At The Bar we celebrate hump day with a quickie — cocktail, of course! The drinks in this series will be fast, easy, and perfect for a mid-week pick me up. Each week we will introduce a new drink, made with only two or three ingredients, that you can whip up when you get home from work (or at work, if you are so inclined. The Woman At The Bar does not judge).
So come inside and meet the best part of your Wednesday: The Ginger Snap!
Yesterday was April Fools Day — are you still recovering from your office’s lame attempt at humor? Did a friend or family member decide that this was the year to pull a “prank” that involved a racially insensitive email? Do you desperately need a moment to unwind? Well look no further, because The Woman At The Bar is here to save you in a (Ginger) Snap. This is all you need to make this drink happen:
- 2 oz Stoli Vanil vodka
- aprox 4 oz ginger ale
- ice
That’s it!
Now before you go putting on your judgey pants about the flavored vodka, I dare you to try a sip of this drink and pretend it is not refreshing and delicious. Go ahead, I’ll wait…
For those of you who stuck around, here are a few notes about this and our other quickie cocktails:
- This is the only time we will support you pouring your ingredients directly into your serving glass.
- This is also the only time we will support you guesstimating on your mixer measurements. Do not take this inch and make it a mile or we WILL turn this car around.
Everybody got it? Okay, then lets go.
First, pour your desired amount of ice into your bar glass.
Next, measure out 2 oz of the vanilla vodka.
Now pour that bad boy directly into the glass!
Almost there! Now take your ginger ale and fill it up! You want about 2x as much ginger ale as vodka, but you can wing it if you want. This type of drink is called a Grog, but I assure you the experience of drinking it will not be anything like a Dickens novel. (Am I the only one who thinks of Dickensian England when I hear the word Grog? Oh well…)
Last but not least! Give that puppy a little stir to fully integrate your ingredients.
Bang! There you have it! Sit back, relax, and enjoy your hump day, folks. The Ginger Snap will not do you wrong.
Until tomorrow!
